UWC Dilijan represents an exciting extension of the UWC movement into the Caucasus region at the junction of Asia and Europe. It is the 14th United World College.
UWC Dilijan offers IB Diploma Program, an academic program recognized by universities worldwide.
The college is located in a romantic 16th century town on the outskirts of the Dilijan National Park in central Armenia. A wide variety of winter and summer sports, outdoor and indoor activities, are a central part of the experience of living in surroundings of extraordinary quality and beauty.
Evolved from the original idea to create Dilijan International School of Armenia, first conceived in 2006 by Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend with the support of other Founding Donors, the college opened its doors in August/September 2014 for 96 founding students from 49 different countries.
In academic year 2015-2017, the college completed the two IB Diploma cohorts admitting another 92 students from 63 countries.
As of September 2016, the UWC Dilijan extended its geography, covering 72 countries and hosting 198 students.
The first generation of UWCD Alumni graduated in May 2016; many of them are continuing their education in the leading universities worldwide – Yale, Columbia, UCL, Duke, Berkeley and many more.
