Description

The Hayravank Monastery (Ayrivank, Hayrivank) is situated in Armenia’s Gegharkunik Province, northeast of the village of Hayravank, on the southwest shore of Lake Sevan. It was constructed between the 9th and 12th centuries.

The city’s oldest structure, St. Stepanos Church, is notable for its square-based central dome. The date of construction in the late 9th century is inscribed on the cross-shaped church made of black limestone.

Many beautiful cross-stones can be found at Hayravank Monastery. These cross-stones are displayed alongside the tombstones in the small cemetery.
