TUMO Gyumri
Description
The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies is an education program that puts teens in charge of their own learning.
TUMO program covers animation, programming, graphic design, robotics, and 10 other learning targets. The learning program consists of self-learning activities supported by coaches, hands-on workshops taught by the center’s specialized staff, and project labs led by industry leaders from across the globe.
TUMO was founded in 2011 on the initiative of the Simonian Educational Foundation. It has hubs in Yerevan, Dilijan, Gyumri and Stepanakert, with 6 TUMO Boxes operating in neighboring towns. Outside of Armenia, there are centers in Paris, Beirut, Moscow, Tirana, Berlin, Kyiv and Lyon.
TUMO Gyumri opened in 2015 with the support of Shant TV and in partnership with the AGBU in a temporary location that it quickly outgrew, reaching over 2,000 active students. In 2020, the center moved to the historic first theater of Gyumri, which can accommodate up to 4,000 students. The renovation of the building was undertaken by the famous architect Bernard Khoury.
